About Us

Midlife Crisis!  We never thought it would happen to us but …. Maybe this is it!  We see friends passing on, we feel our bodies changing and slowing down … and we ask ourselves “If we don’t do it now, will it be too late?”

We love Bill’s Uncle and Aunt’s story.  In their mid-50’s, they sold their house, bought a boat and spent several years sailing the waters of the United States.  They met wonderful people, enjoyed the beauty of this country and, when the timing was right, they sold the boat and went back to work.  Shortly after their return, Bill’s aunt developed a heart condition and, if they had not done what they did, when they did it, they would never have fulfilled their dream!  They did, however, buy an Airstream and spent several more years traveling this beautiful country.  What a great story!

For years our dream has been to live in foreign countries – not just visit them for a few days or weeks.  Travel is in our blood.  So many places to see, so many people to meet, so much to learn and – hopefully - contribute.  So we have chosen to take some time – NOW – to visit family and friends this summer in the States, then go back to South Africa for my son’s wedding and stay for 3 months to live the South African lifestyle.   Fortunately, my son and his future bride are OK that we plan to attend their wedding, go on honeymoon with them (along with 7 of her relatives) and then live around the block from them for 3 months!  We’ll watch some cricket, view some wildlife and enjoy great South African wine and braais (BBQ’s).  It’s summer there in December so we’ll enjoy the Natal beaches and the beautiful Drakensburg Mountains.  A trip to the Zulu battle fields is also on the schedule.  (Blog to follow)

After that it is back to Florida and then the start of our ‘Drive to Panama’ adventure.  Our plan is to live a simple, fulfilling life in Panama and see where Life takes us from there.  If this is Midlife Crisis, it sounds GREAT to us!
